What is Woocommerce?

Let’s say you want to sell a couple of your products online, but which platform should you pick? There are several choices offered. But today, I will focus on woocommerce, which is the most widely used.

A WordPress plugin called Woocommerce helps you with online product sales.

Automatic is the owner and maintainer.

It’s a free, open-source e-commerce platform accessible through the WordPress repository, owned by the same organization as WordPress and Jetpack.

You can add products and begin selling as soon as you finish a brief setup process without worrying about losing money.

You can sell any product, including subscriptions, memberships, bookings, bundles, customizable goods, and physical and digital goods.

Selling goods is as simple as choosing a choice from a drop-down menu.

You can offer grouped products like bundles, affiliate products from other merchants, and simple products.

The variable product is the most flexible; you can use it to make goods available in many sizes, colors, etc.

You can sell virtual goods like music CDs and consultations if you select the virtual and downloadable choices.

Product-level inventory management is accessible, along with automated stock-level alerts.

With a product dashboard, you can track and keep an eye on numerous products simultaneously.

Regarding payments, woocommerce supports options like cash check and PayPal by default.

Still, you can easily add more popular ones like credit cards and strike.

Using plugins for shipping can be a huge hurdle for new online sellers.

Still, woocommerce has simplified the process by automatically calculating shipping costs and tax rates for all products and regions.

And just so your customers are out of the loop, Woocommerce even sets up automatic email notifications that are fully customizable.

When you want to go above and beyond, you can even put your products on sale and provide attractive discounts and offers.

The WordPress repository has hundreds of free plugins for woocommerce, letting you practically do anything you may want.

Woocommerce also has an extension store that takes its functionality to a new level.

While both WooCommerce and Shopify are great eCommerce platforms, they each have their strengths and weaknesses.

WooCommerce is a free, open-source platform installed on any WordPress site.

It is very flexible, as you can customize it to your needs.

However, it also requires more technical expertise to set up and manage. In addition, you will need to take care of your hosting and security.

On the other hand, Shopify is a paid platform with monthly subscription plans.

It is much easier to use, as it comes with everything you need to get started, including hosting and security.

However, it is less customizable than WooCommerce, as you are limited to the themes and plugins available in the Shopify App Store.

Ultimately, your best platform will depend on your specific needs and requirements.

WooCommerce is open source and cost-free to use is one of the critical factors in its success.

However, while free, some costs are associated with running a WooCommerce store.

In addition, WooCommerce stores often need to purchase plugins and themes to extend their functionality.

As a result, while WooCommerce is an excellent option for those on a budget, it is crucial to know the potential costs before getting started.

While WooCommerce is free to use, users must pay their chosen payment processor fees to accept credit card payments.

WP Engine WordPress Website-Ultimate Guide 2022

By |2022-07-23T00:39:16+00:00June 17th, 2022|

WP Engine Ultimate Guide 2022

In this post, I want to talk about how to make a WP Engine WordPress website and some of the advantages of using WP Engine for your website.

wp engine

Benefits of Using WP Engine for your website

WP Engine generates a managed WordPress environment for you.
They take care of all behind-the-scenes stuff, so you don’t have to worry about specific files, installs, and other things.

This WordPress host company also does a lot of tweaking and optimizations to WordPress, so you don’t have to.
You pay a little more for these extra benefits, but I’d like to show how those benefits are worth the price.

benefits

The first thing they do is optimize the performance of WordPress, so their servers only host WordPress.
WP Engine optimizes its complete database configuration on its web server.

WP Engine doesn’t even enable you to put backup plug-ins into WordPress because they take care of that.
They give daily backups that you may download, export, or execute just in time.
Also, restoring future is one of the best out there.

wp engine backup

Security

Security is another perk of the WP Engine; they optimize their servers for all security settings and lock them down, so you don’t need to install a separate security plug-in.
They also maintain WordPress up to date.

wp engine

You can get a premium add-on package to take care of your plug-ins.

Even if you don’t, they’ll keep the WordPress core updated and provide you with a free SSL certificate.
SSL is the new secure means of handling all connections between your web server and a browser.

wp engine ssl

They also offer their content delivery network (CDN).
This service helps distribute content from your website to multiple servers worldwide, improving web browsers’ performance by allowing them to hunt for content closest to them.

wp engine cdn

WP Engine has excellent technical support, so if you have any problems with your website, you may contact them.
Contact them by phone or online chat.

wp engine customer support

They also have built-in features for different staging websites.
You can have two layers of this, either a demo site or a development site, and you can copy your current site to that, make changes, and then upload or test.

wp engine staging

Finally, they have a plug-in that helps with migration.
You can install their plug-in on your current WordPress site.
It’ll help copy the entire site to your new WP Engine account.

Setting up a WordPress website on the WP Engine

So let’s get into a demo on setting up your WordPress website on the WP Engine.
The demo will cover

  1. Purchase hosting plan
  2. Installing WordPress
  3. Make the necessary DNS changes

The first step is to go to the WP Engine website, WP Engine.com, and click on pricing.

wp engine pricing

First, you need to figure out which plan you should join, so you will go to the price page and notice that they have a few different options.
The first thing to note is that the pricing is determined by whether you want to pay annually or monthly, and then you have several plans.

wp engine plans monthly

In most cases, if you only need to host one website, you can do the startup one.

Choose Managed WordPress and scroll down to “build your plan.”

build your plan

As you can see, it only includes one site, one of the differences between the different plans here, but I will focus on the startup plan.
Next, you’ll notice the number of visits per month, ranging from 25 000 to 100,000, depending on your website’s popularity. Startup is 25 000 visits/month.

Wp engine startup plan

If you have a trendy website and need to scale up, this costs more, but you get the same performance and all the other benefits.

They have to put more resources behind it, which is why the storage price is more.
It could be a bandwidth issue, but it’s more about the number of sites and possible users.

If you’re starting or have a basic commercial website, 25 000 visits is an excellent quantity.

wp engine

After you click the “BUY NOW” button, you will end on the checkout screen where you can choose to pay monthly or annually. On the checkout screen, you can select some add-ons, but it is up to you. They are not requirements.

I will explain all of them, so you can decide to buy them or not.

Site Monitoring

Site Monitoring is a paid add-on that allows you to immediately detect and respond to a domain outage on your website’s homepage.

WP Engine will monitor chosen sites on your account with the Site Monitoring package to ensure that your environments are accessible to visitors at their live domains. Notification alerts can also be set up to keep you informed if an issue arises.

Smart Plug-in Manager

Smart Plugin Manager checks your plug-ins for updates nightly and ensures that your site does not break due to the updates.
You can move forward with your business knowing that your plug-ins are up to date, your site is up, and it’s always secure, thanks to machine learning and visual testing.

Global Edge Security

Global Edge Security is a high-performance advanced security solution that keeps your sites secure while giving your consumers a speedier experience.
Block dangers at the perimeter and receive automatic updates to keep up with new threats.

Additional sites

You can get additional sites for $20 each.

Once when you choose add-ons, scroll down and fill up account information.

Account and payments

wp engine account information

Fill in your first name, last name, and if you have a company, the email address, and the account name.

The account name is essential because this is your website name, for example, “onlinebtools.wpengine.com.”

You can’t change this later, so choose the account that is related to what your website is about.

When you finish with your account information, you’ll fill in your billing information.

When you’ve done that, you’ll click, “I have read and agree to the terms of service and the privacy policy,” and hit purchase.

Once your credit card information is processed, you’ll get a screen that says it’s being built.

wp engine wordpress being built

You will get the user name and password for the WP Engine portal and WordPress in an email you provided while creating the account.

WP Engine will also introduce you to get-started tools in the built-in process.

wp engine get started tools

Here you can learn:

  1. How to migrate your website to WP Engine
  2. How to use WP Engine user portal
  3. Basic about WordPress
  4. How to get live support

Welcome emails

The next step is to check your email.

wp engine emails

I received three emails from WP Engine.

The first is a getting started email which will walk you through:

  • How to launch and log into your user portal
  • If you need to add more people to your business
  • Migrating
  • Adding your domain
  • DNS
  • Adding SSL

The second email contains the user name, password, and URL.

The third email is about activating your account, where you have to confirm your email and username.

wp engine

You will be asked to enter a new password when you go ahead and activate your account.
Once you’ve typed in your password, click create an account, and WP Engine will take you to your portal.

wp engine create account

You will see this little wizard, which will prompt you to tell the wp engine everything about yourself so they can figure out what you’re doing.

signup wizard

This wizard has four steps:

  1. What is your role
  2. What is your company
  3. How many people will work with you
  4. Are you building a new WordPress site or migrating an existing WordPress site
  5. How familiar are you with WordPress

You can give them this information or dismiss this wizard.

It is always good to fill up all this because WP Engine will know your experience level and try to customize your account for your needs.

Again because this is a managed WordPress hosting company WordPress is already set up there.

If we go ahead and click on the website name website name , it will get us into the overview of this website.

Now that I am in the user portal, I want to access my WordPress site.
So I will click on the wp-admin link.

And now I am in my WordPress site hosted on wp engine.
You’ll notice that it’s just the standard default WordPress.
There may be a few updates that you have to do, and this may all depend on the version when you purchased a WP Engine.

Genesis Pro and Studio Press

By |2022-07-03T03:35:05+00:00June 15th, 2022|

This post will explain genesis pro and studio press because some things got confusing when studio press merged with the wp engine.
I was confused as to what genesis pro is.
So I thought I’d explain everything about genesis pro.

What are Genesis Pro and Studio Press?

With the new package, you can now have a variety of themes in one easy-to-use bundle.

There are over 30 pre-designed layouts and styles for your blog or website, including Genesis Pro Themes.

Studio press offers more than just design options; it allows users to create their site on Studio Press’ platform easily!

studio press 1

Genesis Pro is the best way to create your website design.
Made by creative people, this program has it all!

The three things I want you to know about Genesis are:

1) It’s got an incredible drag-and-drop interface that allows for quick edits

2 ) You can use their pre-built templates or build one from scratch using their interactive tutorial

3). There are tons of add-on plugins

Sign up for a WP Engine plan, receive the Genesis Framework, and select StudioPress Themes free!

What is Genesis page builder?

The Genesis page builder plugin is, as far I can tell, an essential replacement for the StudioPress All Themes Pack.

You could purchase one-off and get all these child themes in a package deal with the genesis framework!

The company has recently changed its business model to a subscription-based.

The subscription works well with WP Engine‘s acquisition of them, and they also offer subscriptions on top hosting services!

genesis

WordPress is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to build a website, but many people struggle with making the right choice.
With so many high-quality themes and plugins available these days, all craving your attention, it can be hard even to know where to start!
The first step should always involve researching what kind of site you want before grabbing any software.

What is studio press?

StudioPress is a well-known and established theme provider.
They support over 500 thousand WordPress websites with their themes and 60 templates to choose from.

For many web admins out there who use this platform in search of new designs on the market – they are one among few reliable options available.
Furthermore, since WP Engine acquired StudioPress, there’s now a free way to access all of its great themes.

studio press2

StudioPress is known for its cutting-edge themes and plugins that give you total control of your site.

The most popular is the Genesis Framework, which gives designers an easy way to create beautiful layouts without having any technical knowledge or experience with WordPress itself!

studio press and genesis pro

The Genesis Framework is a WordPress theme with an emphasis on design.
Many child themes offer different styles and use for this solid foundation, giving it great versatility.
WordPress is your car’s engine, Genesis is the structure and body, and StudioPress child themes are the paint job, according to the StudioPress team.

genesis benefits

For those who want to take their themes in a different direction or have more control over how they look and function, there’s always the option of building a custom child theme.

The StudioPress framework makes it easy with its pre-built options, but anyone can create one if that suits you better!

StudioPress has created child themes for various popular frameworks, including WordPress.
The process is straightforward- install the desired theme from their website or repository before installing your chosen add-ons with one click using Install Now buttons.

genesis and studio press
Once installed, select activate through the “activating themes option.”
Choosing the Genesis Framework and one of its child themes doesn’t mean the look of your website will suffer.

Before we get to our top picks, let’s consider why you should consider using one of StudioPress’s themes.

Understanding some of the advantages of selecting a Genesis Framework theme might assist you in making an informed decision.

StudioPress themes have speed, security, and simplicity in mind. Fast website loading times keep your customers happy.

At the same time, an extra emphasis on onsite protection makes them more confident about their purchases.

A fully responsive HTML5 design for mobile users means there won’t be any problems, even when browsing on smaller screens or tablets.

All content will still look great thanks to clean code, which appeals to developers and search engines so everyone can benefit.

There’s no doubt that StudioPress themes are for specific types of websites.

However, with a handful of plugins, you will have everything your project needs and still outrank those boring multipurpose themes with every imaginable feature!

You need to switch to another child theme to give your site a new look. The child theme will not affect the functionality of any part of the website.

When you change child themes, there’s no need to worry about negatively affecting usability ratings or SEO rankings because the core site structure provided by Genesis Framework remains unchanged.

The only thing that changes is how your website looks on top of these foundation templates!

WP Engine and StudioPress

StudioPress, the theme company behind some of today’s most popular WordPress templates, has been acquired by WP Engine.
This acquisition means that WP Engine customers can now enjoy using any 35+ themes StudioPress created for free through their hosting packages with them!
Suppose you’re a freelance web designer or run an agency that designs websites.

In that case, the WP Engine Agency Partner Program is worth checking out. With this partnership, you will have free access to all of StudioPress themes and Genesis Framework—enough for use on client sites!

WP Engine Milestone Announcement

You can also get listed in their customer database, which will give your business more exposure among other companies like yours.

The StudioPress acquisition has not stopped them from continuing to produce new themes. Since the deal went through, several impressive upcoming releases have come out, which show that they’re still very much alive and kicking.

When you start to build your WordPress website, you must find ways to save time, increase site security, and ensure your WordPress users have the best possible experience navigating your site.

These reasons are why so many WordPress website owners love WP Engine, specifically WP Engine’s renowned speed technologies.

WP Engine became the first WordPress host to manage to adopt Google Cloud Platforms’ latest infrastructure, the Computer Optimized Virtual Machines (VM) (C2).

WP Engine offers performance that they claim is 40% faster, on top of the software optimizations that have resulted in a platform-wide performance improvement of 15%.

When I was looking for a WordPress hosting provider, my research primarily focused on the performance and uptime of their service.
With that information in mind, here is what you can expect from WPEngine:
Excellent page speed scores (78/100) mean they load pages faster than 78% percent of all other hosts!

Plus, it’s super easy to use, too, so even if your site isn’t designed yet or needs some updates – no worries because this host will be ready when YOU are.

WP Engine Review hosting plans

WP engine offers four main plans with different features.

The startup plan allows you to have up to 25 000 visits per month.

Wp engine startup plan

The professional plan allows you to have up to 75 000 visits per month.

Wp engine profesional plan

The growth plan allows you to have up to 100 000 visits per month.

Wp engine growth plan

The scale plan allows you to have up to 400 000 visits per month.

wp engine scale plan

Storage space and web launching options exist for each type, so there’s no need to worry about running out of room.
WP Engine can tailor custom-made packages towards whatever specific needs one may want across multiple sites.
It’ll optimize them automatically if necessary based on specific criteria like traffic levels or bounce rate.

How to choose a WP Engine hosting plan?

The startup plan is probably enough if you’re a beginner starting.

Maybe you are an agency or have been doing this for a while.
In that case, you may want the growth or the scale plan as it allows many more websites, and the second thing you have to consider is how much traffic you have right now.

Suppose you’re transferring or migrating over from another host and already have lots of traffic.

In that case, you probably need to consider the growth or the scale plan.

growth and scale plan

They have 100 000 visits per month and 400 000 visits per month.

Wp engine also has two pricing options for you to choose from

  1. Annually

      2. Monthly

I always recommend purchasing the more extended plan, which is annual, to save money along the way.
WP Engine is excellent as it has a 60-day money-back guarantee, much more than the standard 30-day many hosting providers have.

They also provide most standard and must-have features like automated backups and auto migration.

wp engine migration
Be aware that this auto migration is not the hand-holding one-on-one migration done by their support staff.
Another great feature of the wp engine is a free content delivery network, an alternative to Cloudflare.

I should mention that the wp engine does not provide a domain name service, so you cannot purchase your domain name on the wp engine.

wp engine

Where to get a domain name?

So what I recommend you do and always do myself is to purchase your domain name from bluehost.com as they have one of the best prices.

bluehost domain name
You can see that you can purchase it at $12.99 per year and get the free domain name privacy, an essential feature.

WP Engine tutorial

For the overall pricing score, I would give wp engine a nine out of ten.

pricing wp engine

WP Engine provides you with most of the expected features of a managed WordPress hosting provider.
They have their CDN, and the automatic daily backup is free.

cdn and daily backup

WP engine offers free hosting options that can be a great deal for those who are just starting. They also use their servers and provide server-side caching, which is supposed to make your site load faster than any plugin installed on WordPress!

Once when you log in, it is easy to navigate.

wp engine control panel

If you want to migrate your website to WP Engine, click the get started button and follow the directions, it is easy, like 1,2,3.

If there is a problem, their team will personally take care of your website transfer for you.

The design of their home page makes it easy to navigate with the custom user interface.

It looks a lot cleaner than other hosting providers’ cPanel platforms.

Even though many features on this site make navigation quick and straightforward (including a unique customer support system), some people may find themselves overwhelmed by how much information is available at once when they first log in.

Wp Engine Pros and Cons

Pros:

Performance

On the pro side, their performance is top-notch.

I think it’s one of the best that you’ll find amongst any other WordPress host out there.

Security

Their security is also excellent.

I have had zero security issues, nothing got hacked, and I’ve had great peace of mind with five different sites over three years.

So security is another plus.

They offer free SSL through “Let’s encrypt” for all your sites, and it’s straightforward to set up.

CDN

Free Cdn on most plans; it is fantastic.

Every plan, except for the most basic one, comes with that.

So that will improve your performance even further.

Staging sites

They offer staging sites on all plans.

So for every single live site that you have with them, you also get a staging site where you can test out your changes,

Backups

They perform automatic backups daily and keep the last 30 days’ worth of backups.

They also allow you to do on-demand backups whenever you need one.

Support

You’re going to have some people that rave about their support, and they are right.

Best support ever from my experience

Cons:

Price

WP engine is a bit more expensive than many other hosts, especially if starting with a minimal site.

But WP Engine charges based on visits, and you could go way over your visits if you get a lot of traffic at one time.

WP Engine Review-Futures Breakdown

Transferable Sites

We will explain transferable installs in this WP Engine review.

A few unique features you won’t find on other managed WordPress hosting platforms are transferable installs.

That means you can create a free site and then pass it over to your client when it’s ready to go live, and your client handles all of the payment information.

You can create a website using transferable sites and environments without adding it to the total number of sites allowed by your hosting plan.

In addition, transferable sites and environments come with a simple way to unlock them or move them to another WP Engine account once completed.

Get 25% OFF any shared eCommerce or Managed WordPress Hosting Plan at WP Engine.

What transferable means

Creating almost limitless transferrable sites and environments is a free feature for all WP Engine accounts.

However, WP Engine sites and environments cannot be changed into a transferable state; they can only be created as transferable.

Since basic authentication prevents traffic from entering each transferable environment, transferable sites do not count toward the total number of sites allowed by your hosting plan.

However, remember that other plan restrictions, such as local disk storage, will still count toward your overall plan utilization.

Check Wp Engine’s newest offer.

Transferable Specifications

Several factors set transferable sites apart from conventional, or billable, sites include:

1)   Transferable environments can be automated and transferred to any other WP Engine account with enough capacity on their plan.

2)   Transferable sites have environments that are automatically password-protected to stop traffic.

3)   The password can be changed but cannot be changed until the transfer or unlock is finished.

4)  The number of sites allowed by your hosting package does not apply to transferable sites.

5)  Password-protected sites are automatically excluded from server caching.

6)  SSL and CDN are not available for transferable sites.

How To create a Transferable Site?

  1. Log in to the User Portal and click add site.
  2. You will see a box with the radio button; check “this site is transferable.”
  3. Select a creation option

  1. Click next
  2. Fill in a Site name.
  3. Enter an environment name
  4. Select an Environment type
    • Production: Intended for active deployment on a specific domain following transfer or unlock
    • Staging — Intended for use while testing upgrades or troubleshooting problems.
    • Development — Intended for building and development

Sites and environments

A “site” at WP Engine is a collection of the development, staging, and production environments.
With the help of these environments, you may safely and individually troubleshoot problems or modify your development methodology.

For instance, you can quickly copy to staging to troubleshoot and fix any issues with your production website.

Another choice is to create and test a new design in development, then copy those modifications to production when you’re ready.
You don’t have to be concerned about modifications to one environment influencing another because each of these habitats functions separately.

What are sites on WP Engine?

A site is a simple approach to unifying multiple environments under one name. As a result, setting up and deploying the appropriate environments for a website is streamlined.

The “Copy environment” tool makes copying environments inside a site simple.

A custom domain can only be made “live” by adding it to the production environment.
You can use staging and development environments for your development workflow but cannot connect a specific live domain to them.

Two-factor authentication

Your administrator accounts are the entry point to your website’s backend settings.
You might need to enter an additional rotating code from an app on your phone to use two-factor authentication.

The administration part of your website would remain inaccessible to an attacker even if they were able to brute force your login and password and failed to correctly guess the code at the precise interval.

For the user portal, WP Engine provides two-factor authentication; alternatively, you can use one of the following plugins on your WordPress site:

Two-Factor Authentication with Rublon (2FA)

Wordfence (2FA)

Your WordPress site can get additional protection by utilizing two-factor authentication (2FA).
This function will significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized visitors accessing your website.

Security

WP engine is a very secure platform, and they do many other things to keep your site safe. Everyone on their platform must always have two plug-ins installed.

The first requires all users to use a medium or strong password, so you can’t use something simple. That would make your site easy to potentially hack.

Wp engine has also created a plug-in that stops really long comments. This is common for a lot of spam and bots to put a long comments on your site.

So WP engine takes the precaution to go ahead and block super long comments.

WP engine will automatically install all WordPress security updates within 24 hours of release.

They also use a proprietary intrusion detection system that blocks millions of attacks daily.

Wp Engine also uses different firewalls and network monitoring tools and even blocks some IP addresses known to be used by hackers.

Disallowed plug-ins

In this WP Engine review, we will also talk about Disallowed plug-ins.

WP engine does have a list of disallowed plug-ins, many of which are disallowed because they are known to be insecure or contain vulnerabilities that could expose your site to an attack.

They also periodically run 3rd Party security audits and code reviews.

Last but not least, in the rare event that your site does get hacked, the WP Engine will fix it free of charge.

This is a list of disallowed plugins:

The built-in caching structure on WP Engine can clash with caching plugins. When used, the following plugins are known to directly conflict with one another and reduce your site’s loading speed:

The WP Super Cache
W3 Total Cache
WP File Cache 25% off

The following plugins are prohibited backup options:

WP DB Backup – Unnecessarily bloats the local storage for your website.

WP DB Manager — Local storage usage is the main worry as it only provides a local storage option.

BackupWordPress: Duplicates numerous files from our backups already on local storage.

VersionPress: Block access to server-level functionalities that this plugin needs to operate, which we do for security reasons.

WP Engine forbids these plugins because they either put a lot of strain on the server or generate excessive database queries. They will adversely affect server load and ultimately reduce the functionality of your website.

Server & MySQL Thrashing Plugins

Broken Link Checker – Absorbs a lot of HTTP requests, overloading the server.

MyReviewPlugin – Abundantly writes to the database, slamming it.

LinkMan — Similar to the MyReviewPlugin described above, LinkMan uses an excessive number of database writes.

Fuzzy SEO Booster—As a site grows, Fuzzy SEO Booster can cause problems with MySQL.

WP PostViews — When a page loads, this plugin inefficiently writes to the database.

Tweet Blender — Can increase server load and does not work well with caching.

MySQL, indexing, and search problems affect almost all “Related Posts” plugins. The plugins are very database-intensive as a result of these issues.

The following plugins replicate what WP Engine already does for you in a more effective, scalable, and customizable way, just like the caching and backup plugins did.

No Revisions – By default, revisions are turned off for all customers.

Force Strong Passwords — This plugin has already been installed and activated for you.

Bad Behavior — This plugin prevents WP Engine from allowing some hosts to connect.

There are more disallowed plugins but these above are the most important ones that we will mention in this WP Engine review.

WP engine’s backups

The User Portal’s “Backup Points” tab is where you can access full backup features.

wp engine backup points

Although nightly backups are performed automatically, you should generally create a new backup checkpoint before making any changes to your website.

create backup

You can see the 40 most recent checkpoints on this page.

wp engine backup

WP Engine keeps checkpoints for up to 60 days. Contact Support if you require a checkpoint that is not showing.

Bonus: You now receive all 36+ StudioPress premium themes and the Genesis framework without cost with all WP Engine accounts

Restore a Backup

To restore (or rollback) your website to a previous version use this button:

restore backup

The duration of the automatic restore procedure ranges from a few minutes to many hours. This process mainly depends on the size and quantity of the files on your website.
After the restore, Wp Engine will send an email to the addresses provided.

Since the restore process is destructive, the process will replace all data on the target environment to match that of the chosen backup point.
As a result, any files on the destination that aren’t also present in that backup point will be deleted when the destination is restored.

Uptime and reliability

Continuous site monitoring, which can be an excellent way to keep an eye on real-time site performance and set up warnings for potential issues before they become more serious, is one of the best ways to prevent downtime.

The ability to link to site-specific access logs when an outage occurs gives Site Monitoring users crucial information about outages, uptime, and average response times across their portfolio of websites.

With increased SLA, WP Engine’s uptime guarantee rises to 99.99 percent from 99.95 percent.
That is less than an hour of downtime annually.
This host has a page performance tool that performs tests and, if performance declines, offers recommendations for site enhancements.
The GeoTarget add-on improves your website according to the visitor’s location.

Customer Assistance:

WP Engine offers customer support around the clock, and you can get in touch with them by turning on the chat support system in the user panel.

It first links you to a support bot that offers you potential solutions. If those don’t work, you can speak with a professional who will assist you in resolving the problem.

While you wait, you can use the ticket monitoring system while agents typically respond soon.

What is Bluehost security?

You’ll want to ensure you have enough security measures to safeguard yourself and your audience once you’ve decided to put your website online.
You may use the following security features if you choose Bluehost for your website hosting.

SSL Certificate for Free

An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is the strongest indicator of a safe website. In addition, the padlock emblem and “HTTPS” at the front of a web URL indicate that any data you share on your site is safe.

Because every Bluehost plan includes a free SSL certificate, you won’t have to worry about visitors seeing a warning that your site is harmful.

Best WordPress Hosting-BlueHost Review

However, if you desire more advanced security, you can obtain a premium SSL for $49.99 annually. This security would benefit any E-commerce site, especially when customers login with their username and password or provide sensitive information (like credit card details).

Anti-spam security

When you use Bluehost email services, you may choose from three different degrees of spam protection:

  1. Spam Experts,
  2. Spam Hammer, or
  3. Apache Spam.

Your contacts and directories will also be password-protected.

Cloudflare

Cloudflare, a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that can speed up your website while safeguarding it from DDoS assaults, works nicely with Bluehost.
This network will make it safer for your viewers and help you rank higher in search results.

Authentication using two factors

You can protect your account using two-factor authentication (2FA), ensuring that no one can access it just because they know your password.
You’ll have to log in with your phone if you enable this security feature. Because of this, any unauthorized person will be unable to access your website, cPanel, or Bluehost account.

Best WordPress Hosting-BlueHost Review

Many other security elements are available with Bluehost, but these are the most commonly used. Bluehost is vigilant about security and constantly adds new features to its security processes.

What is Bluehost customer support?

The most outstanding customer support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and includes phone, live chat, email, and support tickets for any service. And with the addition of a support desk and experienced in-house professionals, Bluehost will do precisely that.

Bluehost’s customer service has received mixed ratings. However, you can test out their live chat service without creating an account to see how well it works and how quickly it responds.

But, whatever the case, we believe Bluehost’s user support portal more than compensates for its flaws. This website offers a variety of video lessons, how-to instructions, FAQs, and articles on various web hosting subjects. This comprehensive knowledge library can be used as a quick reference to resolve any user issues.

Furthermore, contacting the correct Bluehost team is one approach to ensure you receive the fastest possible answer.

The Sales team can assist you with general questions, potential customers, and new Bluehost visitors.

The Account Management team responds to questions about billing, account verification, and terms of service.

What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting Ultimate guide

The basic definition of “what is web hosting”

Web hosting provides space on a worldwide network for a website.

It is a service offered by specialized businesses that enable you to make your presentation accessible online.

To publish a website, two prerequisites must be met:

  1. The domain name must be registered
  2. Provider’s web hosting services must be rented.

domain name and povider

If we’re allowed to use an analogy, web hosting is the lease on the house or apartment where you live, and the domain is your residential address.

WEB HOSTING ANALOGY

In other words, the cost of hosting is the rent you pay to the resource owner who makes your website available to the public.

What are the types of  Web hosting?

It would be best first to comprehend the distinctions between the various hosting plans.

There are primarily six main categories of plans from which to select.

They are :

  1. Shared hosting
  2. VPS hosting
  3. Dedicated hosting
  4. Managed hosting
  5. Cloud hosting
  6. Colocation

types of web hosting

Think about your traffic flow

When it comes to buying web hosting, the majority of website owners disregard two crucial aspects.

  • Bandwidth

What is bandwidth in web hosting?

The quantity of data your website can send users at a specific time is known as bandwidth in website hosting.

Although most web hosting businesses calculate and price bandwidth in gigabytes (GB), others may offer “unlimited bandwidth.”

  • Disk space

What is disk space in web hosting?

The amount of storage space a web host allows for a website and all its related files on a server is disk space.

Essentially, it’s the same as hard drive disk space on your computer.

Typically, web providers mention the amount of disk space they provide on their websites and information about their plans and costs.

wp engine bandwidght

Website or blog owners believe there won’t be much traffic to their website, and they overlook that when your company grows, traffic to the new website will increase.

We advise that you choose a package that can accommodate your traffic requirements.

unlimited bandwidth

Unlimited in Web Hosting

You may have seen the word “unlimited” when choosing a name and hosting plan for a website.

You won’t genuinely receive infinite bandwidth space; it’s a truth.

The bandwidth is constrained by your hardware’s power, which is a problem.

You won’t be able to transfer more data than 10 MB per second, for instance, if your server only has a 10 MB per second port.

What justifies web hosting’ claims of “unlimited bandwidth”?

They do this because they are aware that a shared server’s websites will never, under normal circumstances, consume all of its bandwidth.

wp engine

What Is the Value of Web Hosting Bandwidth?

After discussing hosting bandwidth, let’s talk about why it’s so crucial.

The bandwidth you use will affect how quickly pages load and how much it will cost to host your website.

According to Neil Patel, 40% of internet users abandon a webpage after just three seconds of loading time.

And for eCommerce customers, 47% expect load times of less than two seconds.

internet users (2)

So, essentially, no one has the time to wait around staring at a loading screen.

Backup Is Crucial

You can lose important data if the web hosting server crashes.

Computer_crash.

As a result, we advise that you select a hosting provider that enables daily data backups.

This is an example from WP Engine.

wp engine backup

To be safe, you might also think about off-site backups.

Secure your website properly.

No one can deny the significance of website security in the modern world.

But unfortunately, if you don’t care about the security of your website, hackers will have easy access to it.

As a result, you might want to select a hosting provider that offers high security.

WordPress will be used by 43.2% of all websites on the internet in 2022, according to statistics from W3Techs.
From 39.5 percent in 2021, this represents an increase.
That indicates that WordPress is used by two out of every five websites.

What is web site builder?

A website builder can be a lifesaver for someone without access to sophisticated HTML tools or skills.

A relative internet novice can quickly develop a professional website using website builders.

The ability to edit your website without the assistance of a web professional is one of the benefits of a decent website builder.

Is every web hosting website builder?

Bluehost.com Web Hosting $3.95

Yes, web hosting hosts both websites and website builders.

For example, suppose you own a retail business, and your inventory fluctuates frequently.

In that case, you might want to update your online inventory to reflect what’s new in your physical store.

This is simple to accomplish with a website builder.

Without a website builder or effective content management system, changing things typically necessitates paying for your web designer to visit the site and make the required adjustments.

By the end of the year, this might build up to a sizable expense.

An online tool for building websites called Bluehost Builder features a simple drag-and-drop user interface along with thousands of themes, graphics, and design tools.

A Breakdown of The Types of Web Hosting

What is shared web hosting?

Shared hosting is a form of website hosting that enables several websites to share a single physical web server and its resources with all the websites it hosts.

As an illustration, we will take a look at Hostinger and Bluehost

hostinger

Looking at their hosting options, they refer to shared hosting simply as web hosting, which is still shared hosting.

On the other hand, for example, Bluehost will list shared hosting for what it is.

blue host shared hosting

Because the cost of server maintenance is divided among many clients, this is one of the most widely used and economical solutions for web hosting.

To make shared hosting more understandable, here is an illustration.

server and websites

Let’s imagine that your website is a blue laptop or website sandwiched between these other websites.

You may see that one server and two other websites connect to you.
You all share the same server resources, such as bandwidth and storage space, and connect to the same network using the same IP address.

Simply said, an I. P. Address is a unique numeric address that uniquely identifies your website on the internet.
Even though this explanation is pretty basic, I want to make sure that everyone comprehends it, especially those who are new.

What are the advantages of shared hosting?

advantages of shared hosting (1)

  • Since the CPU, storage space, and other resources are shared, shared hosting is the cheapest type of web hosting.
  • Costs for web hosting and server maintenance are reduced, and you benefit from the savings.
  • Shared hosting is easy to use, set up, and understand.
  • A free drag-and-drop website builder and one-click WordPress installation are included with many hosting plans.
  • Shared hosting provides simple administration.
  • The industry-standard control panel, the C panel, is included with most shared hosting services.
  • Managing your hosting account is really simple and as a result, shared hosting requires little upkeep as well.
  • Your hosting company typically takes care of security and administrative duties.
  • Shared hosting relieves you of the burden of managing servers, installing server software, keeping up with security upgrades, and other hosting-related tasks.
  • Several shared hosting options enable you to host numerous domains or websites in a single hosting account.
  • If your website’s demands vary, you can scale up or down depending on your shared hosting package.

Top two best shared hosting services

1. Bluehost

bluehost best hosting 2022

Even among more experienced users, Bluehost is a trusted company and a well-liked option for hosting.

It is one of the businesses WordPress.org officially recommends and provides reasonable speed and uptime (although you can host any site on its servers).

The following are included with Bluehost’s Basic shared hosting plan, which costs about $2.75 per month for a single website.

  • Limitless bandwidth
  • 50 GB of space
  • Free domain registration for a year
  • 25 maximum subdomains

For $5.45 a month, more expensive plans like Choice Plus offer unlimited websites, storage, and domains.

Additionally, you’ll get spam filtering, site backups, and unmetered bandwidth.

The scalability of Bluehost’s services is another benefit. Starting with the Basic plan is always an option, and upgrading is simple when necessary.

2. Hostinger

The service with the most reasonable prices is Hostinger.

Even if we only had minor performance concerns, this platform is still a solid option for websites with low traffic.

The Single Shared Hosting plan, which starts at $1.99 per month, includes the following:

  • A single email address at your domain
  • The bandwidth of 100 GB
  • 2 subdomains and a free SSL certificate
  • The Litespeed Cache plugin for WordPress

What is VPS Web hosting?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a hosting service that offers you dedicated (private) resources on a server alongside other customers through virtualization technology.

Compared to shared hosting, where you don’t have dedicated server space, VPS is a safer and more reliable option.

Try Premium VPS Hosting From Bluehost

Website owners with medium-level traffic that surpasses the allowances of shared hosting plans but who don’t require the resources of a dedicated server go for VPS hosting.

Most virtual private server solutions provide multiple hosting options.

For instance, at Hostinger, eight VPS options accommodate various business requirements and enable you to grow your site when you require additional resources quickly.

hostinger Vps web hosting

To make shared hosting more understandable, here is an illustration.

vps web hosting

With VPS hosting, you get a virtual server that mimics a physical server. Still, the computer is actually shared by numerous users.

Using virtualization technologies, your hosting company adds a virtual layer to the server’s operating system (OS).
This layer separates the server and enables independent OS and software installations for every user.

Because you have total control, a virtual private server (VPS) is both virtual and private.
On an OS level, it is isolated from other server users.

Hostinger web hosting

You will require a host that can accommodate your website as it expands in size and traffic volumes rise.
Depending on your site’s traffic, you’ll want it to load pages quickly.

Decide on a hosting package that will work for your website now and in the future.

You could find what you’re looking for in a VPS plan.
With VPS hosting, you’ll have access to more significant server resources, allowing you to support rising visitor volumes while keeping your website responsive.

Try Premium VPS Hosting From Bluehost

What are the advantages of VPS hosting?

advantages of shared hosting

  • Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting can bring many benefits over shared hosting.
  • One of the most highly coveted elements is VPS’s ability to improve website page speed.
  • The quantity of server space you have will astound you if you switch from a shared hosting plan.
  • The high amounts of bandwidth can support substantial traffic volumes without any problems.
  • You are the only website accessing the server’s resources when using a VPS.
  • Most VPS hosting plans give you greater server customization and management levels. Therefore, a VPS can be the best option if you need a particular operating system or server configuration that you cant host on a shared hosting package.
  • No matter what portion of the server’s resources you use, dedicated hosting requires you to pay for the whole server. However, with VPS hosting, you have more control over the server’s resources, so you’ll only have to pay for what you’re utilizing.

Blue host VPS web hosting has it all:

  • Cost and money-back assurance:

Before selecting any hosting provider, the cost is what most of us are thinking about.

As a result, you ought to avoid using a hosting service that costs too much.

Since practically every hosting business offers a money-back guarantee, you should look at it.

A hosting company that offers a money-back guarantee at any moment is a superior choice.

  • Control panel:

The control panel is the only place where you can quickly add and manage domain names and emails and view website statistics.

  • Security level:

Most hosting providers offer additional security features, such as safeguarding your websites against hacker and virus attacks.

  • Customer service:

Blue host VPS web hosting has technical assistance.

In addition, they have access to all forms of communication, including email, chat, and phone.

What is dedicated web hosting?

Dedicated web hosting is a sort of hosting where you have your own server.
This indicates that you have sole control over your server and that it is not shared with anybody else.

This can be a wise choice if you have a lot of traffic or require specialized capabilities like woocommerce.
But it might also cost more than shared hosting.

Dedicated hosting solutions come in a variety of packages from web hosts.
The cost of these plans depends on the hardware selection and resource allocation the customer makes.

Large enterprises or websites with much more traffic should use dedicated hosting solutions.
The server is entirely in the hands of the clients, who may customize it to suit their needs.

Try BlueHost Dedicated hosting Tuned for Ultimate Performance

Both managed and unmanaged versions of the dedicated plans are available.
In the event of any issues, the hosting company can administer the server on behalf of the client.
Dedicated managed servers cost higher on average.

Additional expenses for dedicated servers include the software packages needed to run the server.

Such software can include licensing for windows, desired Cpanel, and other paid software.

Free alternatives to most paid software packages are available. Still, they are not generally preferred due to issues with the stability of the software.

What are the advantages of dedicated hosting?

5 advantages of dedicated web hosting

1. Server resources are not shared

You receive all of a single server’s resources when you select a dedicated hosting company.
It’s not a concern that other websites will jam the server’s CPU and RAM.
You can be sure your server won’t be slowed down by faulty scripts running on another website or sudden increases in bandwidth demand if you have a dedicated server.

2. Enhanced performance and security

Selecting a dedicated hosting service ensures that your website is always available.
Shared hosting is frequently the best option for websites with light to moderate traffic.

However, dedicated servers offer more stability and dependability than shared hosting if your website experiences high traffic.

Additionally, choose a dedicated server.
You can be confident that no bad websites or possible spammers are using the same resources as you.
Increased security is possible with dedicated hosting, which is crucial for businesses processing sensitive FTP or SSL transactions.

3. Flexibility

With a dedicated server, a client has the freedom to tailor the server to their particular requirements for CPU, RAM, disk space, and software.

Customers that use shared hosting are restricted to the operating system, software, and applications already installed on the server.

They may provide software clients don’t require or fall short in some areas.

Web hosting can create a server environment tailored to your needs with a dedicated server.

They have more control over the configuration of their dedicated server because they may select the platform and applications they require.

4. Unique IP address

Each server has a specific IP address of its own.
That indicates that you are using a shared IP address with several other websites while using shared hosting.

You get your own unique IP address and a dedicated server when you use dedicated hosting.
This is particularly crucial if you run a big e-commerce site that needs SSL to handle credit cards.

5. No overhead for purchasing or maintaining equipment

Dedicated hosting is an inexpensive way for a business to access the resources of a whole server.

A dedicated hosting provider lowers the overhead for a company buying server space and boosts their return on investment by taking care of the expense of creating and maintaining server hardware.

However, websites with heavy traffic or those with stringent customization and security requirements can discover that a dedicated hosting company is their best choice.
